Youth African Drumming – Ages 8 to 12

Learn traditional West African music on authentic instruments from Ghana and Guinea including djembes, doundoun, kpanlogo drums, gourd xylophones, bells, and shakers.

Youth Marimba  – Ages 8 to 12

Using handcrafted “buzzing” Zimbabwe-style marimbas of all sizes, this group plays lively, danceable arrangements of tunes based on the mbira tradition of the Shona people in southern Africa.  Music is learned aurally and includes singing, clapping, hosho (gourd rattle) playing, and moving to the music.

Adult Marimba – Ages 13 and up

This group plays arrangements of tunes from various music cultures on Zimbabwe-style marimbas: soprano, tenor, baritone, and bass.  The marimba is a very accessible instrument to learn rhythm, melody, harmony, and listening.  Be part of a fun community of learners while deepening your relationship with music, culture, and life!  All experience levels welcome.
