Nicholas Crist – cello

Nicholas D. Crist, graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN with a Bachelor’s of Music degree with a focus in Cello Performance where he studied under Dr. Gregory Hamilton. During his time at Concordia College, he was the Principal Cellist of the Emmy award winning Concordia Orchestra with whom he toured with both nationally and internationally. Following his time at Concordia, Nicholas went on to pursue a Master’s of Music degree in Cello Performance from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas where he studied under Dr. Andrew Smith, and held a Graduate Assistantship in Cello Performance. During his Master’s program, Nicholas served as Principal Cellist with the University of Nevada – Las Vegas Symphony Orchestra, and was a founding member of the Aeon String Quartet. As a student, Nicholas has had the opportunity to take masterclasses with world class musicians including Emilio Colon, Frank Huang, Matthew Hunter, the Miro String Quartet, and the Telegraph String Quartet.

Currently, Nicholas serves as a cellist in the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, the Saint Cloud Symphony Orchestra, and the Amadeus Chamber Symphony. During his summers, Nicholas serves in a managerial role at the Lutheran Summer Music Festival in Valparaiso, Indiana.

As a teacher at the Wirth Center, Nicholas teaches students of all levels and his teaching style focuses on a healthy, natural, and relaxed way of playing the cello.

When Nicholas is not engaged in musical activities, he enjoys playing video games, reading, and finding new coffee places around Saint Cloud.
