Hello! My name is Winston Johnson. I’m a lifelong scout and musician. I know first hand how music can change lives. Therefore, for my Eagle Scout service project, I conducted an instrument drive to benefit the Wirth Center for the Performing Arts, a non-profit organization, who will then provide kids with financial needs the opportunity to play an instrument. The goal of this instrument drive was to make sure that every child, regardless of income, can experience the joys of music. I collected gently used or in need of repair instruments that were refurbished to playable condition. The Wirth Center lends or gifst these instruments to area youth who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford them. For many years, I have benefited from the Wirth Center. This exceptional non-profit school and their dedicated faculty provide countless lessons, exciting performing opportunities and community outreaches for central Minnesota. I have been an active participant in their fun Saturday morning jam band (free program for kids wanting to rock!) as well as their amazing School of Rock summer camps. This is a most “wirthy” organization!
